ERNEST J. TOWNSEND
A funeral for Ernest J. Townsend, a Sonoma truck driver, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Parent Funeral Chapel, Petaluma.
Townsend died Saturday at a Long Beach hospital from injuries suffered in a traffic accident two weeks ago. He was 55.
A native of New Delhi, La., he was reared there and later moved to Texas to work in the oil fields.
Townsend moved to Sonoma six years ago and had owned and operated his own trucking service.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Townsend of Sonoma; a stepson, Bob Golden of Petaluma; three brothers, Purvis R. Townsend of Delhi, La., Claude Townsend of Alabama and Emmett Townsend of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Maynalee Stear; and three grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
