MIRIAM M. SWETT

Miriam M. Swett of Ross died Monday at Ross General Hospital after a short illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Ross. She was 69.

Mrs. Swett attended Katharine Branson School in Ross and Mills College in Oakland.

She donated money to many charitable organizations in Marin County and elsewhere, including the Marin Wildlife Center, the California Marine Mammal Center, Greenpeace, Save the Whales and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

She also donated money to Ross churches and schools.

Her parents settled in Ross in 1906 after having a home built for them.

Her late husband, Dr. Walter Gordon Swett, died 21 years ago.

Her late husband’s great-grandfather was an education activist in California. A school, John Swett School, is named after him in San Francisco.

Mrs. Swett is survived by a son, Marshall G. Swett of Novato, and two grandchildren.

A private funeral service will be held.

Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.

The family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society.
