RALPH JOSEPH MOORE
Author and attorney

Ralph Joseph Moore of San Rafael died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 31, 1990, at home. He was 84.

He was born in Wisconsin and received a bachelor’s degree from Hamline College in St. Paul, Minn. He got a law degree from University of Minnesota and a master’s degree from University of Washington.

Mr. Moore practiced law in Lindsay, Tulare County, and San Rafael, but spent most of his career as a writer. He specialized in legal writing.

His most recent book, “The Cosmos, God and Philosophy,” was co-written with his son, Brooke N. Moore. Brooke Moore is head of the philosophy department at California State University, Chico.

Mr. Moore lived six years in Sunnyvale before moving to San Rafael 35 years ago. He enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife, E. Eleanor Crockett Moore of San Rafael; another son, Ralph J. Moore Jr. of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Dorothy Edlin of Berkeley; two stepdaughters, Pat Carnes of Fort Walton, Fla., and Sally Segal of Miami Beach, Fla., and brother, Francis Moore of Minnesota; and 15 grandchildren.

A service was held Monday at the Unitarian Fellowship in San Rafael.
