FRANK KLARKOWSKI

A memorial service for Frank G. Klarkowski will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael.
He died at home in San Rafael May 10 at 76.
He was born in Chicago, Ill. and spent much of his youth in Crown Point, Ind. He served as a combat medic throughout the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Klarkowski also served as a medical officer in Korea. He retired as a major from the Army in 1962 and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in San Rafael for 18 years.
His hobbies included fishing, gardening and woodcarving. He was a member of S.I.R.S. Branch 22, VFW Post 72 and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lauretta of San Rafael; a sister, Nancy Thompson of Merriville, Ind.; four daughters, Susan Hoffman of Moorepark, Kate Lyon of Santa Rosa, Judith D’Amico of Sonoma and Karen Smith of Santa Rosa; a son, Richard Klarkowski of Petaluma; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial donations are preferred to the St. Paul’s Memorial Fund or the Army Emergency Relief Fund at the Presidio.
