Doretha “Dee-Dee” M. Pipgrass died on her 74th birthday.

She was born in Petaluma. She lived in San Rafael for 20 years before moving to Santa Rosa eight years ago.

Mrs. Pipgrass was a member of the state Board of Equalization, retiring in 1986.

“Dee was known by all as a lively and energetic person with a sense of humor, quick wit, common sense and a winning smile,” John Pipgrass said of his wife of 48 years.

She enjoyed golfing, gardening and cooking.

She died May 5.

Contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army or to any favorite charity.
