VIRGIL L. LOCKETT

A funeral service for Virgil Lee Lockett of Oakland, a former 34-year resident of Marin City, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew United Presbyterian Church in Marin City.

He died on Sunday at his home in Oakland after a long illness. He was 67.

A native of Brighton, Tenn., he had worked as a plumber in Mill Valley for 27 years before retiring. He moved to Oakland about three years ago to live with a daughter.

He is survived by six sons, Percy Lockett and Peter Lockett, both of East St. Louis, Ill., John Earl Tillis, Vernon Lockett and Donald Lockett, all of San Francisco, and William Lockett of Daly City; three daughters, Cynthia Salgado of Daly City, Lynn Famarin and Thelma Abercrombie, both of Oakland; six sisters, Lusterine Campbell and Lola Riddles, both of East St. Louis, Thelma Fields of University City, Mo., Viola Janas of Marin City, Louella Hodge of Indianapolis, Ind., and Naomi Dew of Walnut Hill, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

Burial will be at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. Visitation will be held at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
