VELMA ATKINS
The funeral service for Velma Atkins, 79, a longtime resident of Fairfax, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael.
Mrs. Atkins was the widow of Dorris B. Atkins, a federal reserve bank officer.
She died Wednesday night at a local hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Atkins had worked as a grocery store clerk during World War II and before that had worked as a secretary in San Francisco.
She was a native of California and had lived in Fairfax since 1936.
Surviving are her son, Tommy K. Atkins of Castro Valley; a sister, Cleetis Hogan of Felton, Santa Cruz County; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
