FRANK MARTIN

A funeral for Frank Martin, 58, a San Pablo resident who was a journeyman sign maker for Marin County, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wilson and Kratzer Mortuaries in San Pablo.

He died Monday of a sudden illness at a San Pablo hospital.

He was born and raised in Oakland. After high school, he served in the Navy during World War II.

Martin had lived in San Anselmo for about eight years before moving to San Pablo seven years ago. He had worked in the county’s sign fabricating shop for the past 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Martin of San Pablo; a daughter, Sandra Gerstel of Kensington; his mother, Claudina Martin of Oakland; two brothers, Manuel Martin of Fresno and Louis Martin of Oakland; two sisters, Marie Gomes of Hayward and Virginia Atkins of Oregon; and two grandchildren.

Rosary services will be held at the funeral chapel at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family prefers memorial gifts to St. Anthony’s Mission in San Francisco.
