MARIA DUTRA

Maria Medeiros Dutra, 77, of Novato, a former ranch cook and seamstress, died Friday morning at a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Dutra was the widow of Jose Cabral Dutra.

She had worked for several years as a cook at the Ryan, Dias and Silveira ranches and retired in 1964 as a seamstress at the La Fargue Laundry in San Rafael.

She was a native of Fall River, Mass., and had been a resident of Novato since 1938.

Mrs. Dutra was a member of Council 94, S.P.R.S.I., a Portuguese lodge, in Novato.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis C. Dutra of Novato and Joseph C. Dutra of Burbank; a brother, Jesse Medeiros of East Providence, R.I.; a sister, Rosa Amaral Medeiros, of East Providence, R.I.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Novato. Entombment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home, Novato.
