JOSEPH A. GARCIA
A private memorial service has been held for Joseph Alexander Garcia, a longtime Marin resident who died Jan. 8 while on a visit to England.
Garcia, 60, was ill for about a month before dying in Worcester.
He was retired after a career as an exporter and in investments.
He was born and reared in King City and was a graduate of the University of San Francisco.
He had lived in Kentfield for the past seven years and before that about 24 years in Sleepy Hollow.
Garcia was a member of the University of San Francisco Alumni Association, the Society of California Pioneers, the Commonwealth Club and The Priory.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Alice Garcia; a daughter, Cherie I. Garcia of Kentfield; a son, Dr. Joseph A. Garcia Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; and his mother, Julia Garcia of King City.
The family prefers memorial contributions to charities aiding retarded or blind children.
