LEONARD F. KOPP

Leonard F. Kopp of San Rafael, a Marin native and retired Pacific Gas & Electric Co. accountant, died Monday at Marin General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 78.

Kopp was born in San Rafael and attended local schools. He worked for the utility for 48 years, retiring in 1966 as assistant general auditor.

During his first six years with the company he worked in the San Rafael office until he was transferred to the San Francisco office in 1929.

He was a former member of the San Rafael Board of Education. He also was a member of the Marin Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons No. 191, the Pacific Service Employees Association and Sons in Retirement branch No. 22.

He is survived by his wife, Christie E. Kopp; two sons, Laurence Kopp of Walnut Creek and Kenneth Kopp of San Anselmo; three sisters, Florence Carbine of San Rafael, May Hunt of San Rafael and Bernice Kuppe of Berkeley; and six grandchildren.

Private services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 9 p.m. at the mortuary.
