JOHN FAIOLA
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church in San Rafael for Gennaro (John) Faiola, Marin contractor and real estate developer.
Faiola, 43, died Monday at a local hospital.
Faiola was born and reared in Vandergrift, Pa., and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1954. He then attended the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, graduated in 1958.
He served with the Army three and a half years, most of the time stationed at Fort Barry in Marin County.
After he left the service, he stayed in Marin, working first as engineering project director for the federal building construction in San Francisco and then as an engineer for Texaco and American oil companies.
About 12 years ago, he started his own business, Environmental Renewal Co., which is based in San Rafael and is a contracting and development firm.
In addition to his business, Faiola participated in many community activities. He was a member and officer of the Marvelous Marin Breakfast Club and a member of the San Rafael Rotary Club. He also participated in the Kentfield-Greenbrae Little League.
An outdoorsman, Faiola belonged to the Marin Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Theodora (Dedo) Faiola, who was reared with him in Pennsylvania, and his son, Gennaro (John) Faiola Jr., both of the family home in Kentfield, and his parents, Marion and Sue Faiola of San Rafael.
Visitation at Keaton’s Mortuary will be until 8 p.m. Wednesday, when the rosary will be recited.
Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.
The family prefers donations in Faiola’s name to the Kentfield-Greenbrae Little League or the San Rafael Manor senior citizens housing project.
