ETHEL R. HARWOOD
A private funeral service will be held for Novato resident Ethel R. Harwood.
Mrs. Harwood died Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 88.
A native of Iowa, she moved to Southern California in 1942 and to San Leandro before coming to Novato to live with her daughter, Mary Jane Shorter, two years ago.
While living in Iowa, she was a school teacher before marrying her late husband Harry H. Harwood w ho died in 1968.
She was active in the Congregational Church in Eldora, Iowa, and in the Mount Olive Community Church of Whittier in the Los Angeles area.
She is survived by two sons, Harlan K. Harwood and Edgar L. Harwood, both of San Leandro; three daughters, Mary Jane Shorter of Novato, Lois I. Hurt of Chamblee, Ga., and Anna Mae Crane of Whittier; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
She will be buried in the family plot at the Vienna Cemetery in Beaman, Iowa.
