MARGARET HYNES

Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret J. Hynes, retired school teacher and Strawberry resident, was to be offered today in Mill Valley.

Mrs. Hynes, 71, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a long illness.

Born and reared in San Francisco, she was graduated from San Francisco State College. Before retiring, she taught for 15 years at Anza School in San Francisco.

She had lived in Marin County about 14 years – first for several years during World War II and then for the last seven years. The rest of her life was spent in San Francisco.

She lived at 124 Richardson Drive at the time of her death.

She was the wife of William T. Hynes Sr., a retired sales manager for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co.

She was a member of the Women’s Catholic Order of the Foresters, the California Teachers Association and the Retired Employees of San Francisco.

She also belonged to St. Hilary’s Catholic Church in Tiburon.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, William T. Hynes of Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County; Richard J. Hynes of Accra, Ghana, West Africa; one daughter, Jane A. Gregory of Mill Valley; one sister, Aileen G. Steele of Glendale, Los Angeles County, and 11 grandchildren.

The family has asked that memorial gifts go to the Hanna Boys Center in Sonoma or to the donor’s favorite charity.
