Margaret McCaskey
Margaret McCaskey, a fourth generation San Rafael native, died Monday at Ross General Hospital. She was 77.
Mrs. McCaskey’s family roots go back to her grandparents, who settled in San Rafael in the mid-1800s.
She was a graduate of Dominican College in San Rafael, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She taught Spanish for several years.
She and her husband, Selden, who preceded her in death, lived in Japan for many years, both before and after Word War II. Mr. McCaskey was a comptroller for steamship companies and for many years worked for the American President Lines Ltd.
She is survived by her son, Michael J. McCaskey of Bethesda, Md., and three sisters, Ethel Smith, Alice Todaro and Elaine McClure, all of Marin.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
The family prefers donations to Hospice of Marin or a favorite charity.
