Fire Ends Four Lives
San Anselmo Home Burns

Funeral services were held yesterday for the 4 members of the CARROLL JOHNSON family, who perished early Monday in their San Anselmo home when a blaze swept the entire two-story dwelling. Bodies of the victims were taken from the ashes of the home and removed to the Guy Jenness Mortuary.

Charred remains of CARROLL JOHNSON, 31, Marinship worker, EXALUE E. JOHNSON, 28, his wife; and their two children, EVERETT JOHNSON, 5, and WESLEY JOHNSON, 18 months, were removed from the home by firemen, who had been unable to reach the home at 350 Floribel Avenue in time.

Story of the fire was told by Al Fourmet, neighbor of the Johnsons.

Fourmet awoke around 2 a.m. Monday morning, and hearing screams for help, ran from his home across the street and broke open the front door of the house only to find the entire interior in flames.

He then ran to the nearest alarm box to summon the fire department and the call reached the central office at 2:20 a.m. However, by the time the trucks had come up the steep and curved Redwood Drive and entered Floribel, the house and its occupants were beyond aid. Source of the blaze was not found.
