Young Flier Dies in Crash at Navy Base
A family reunion which was to take place on Saturday, July 15, at the Reeve home in Mill Valley was halted early this week when it was reported that Flight Officer WILLIAM "BILL" REEVE had been killed instantly in a Navy air crash on the morning of July 4 at Ephrape Field, Washington.

The 21 year old flier had planned a visit home this month at which time his brother JAMES REEVE, AM 1/C, who has just returned from three years in the South Pacific, would be present, thereby bringing the mother, Mrs. HAZEL REEVE, two sons and sister Miss ELIZABETH REEVE, together for the first time since before Pearl Harbor.

Flight Officer REEVE, whose death came shortly before he was to report for overseas duty, was a graduate of Old Mill School, Mill Valley, Tamalpais High School, where he was outstanding in track, football, and especially tennis, and Marin Junior College, where he again became a leader in the track and tennis fields. He enlisted in the Navy while still a student at the Kentfield college and completed his flight training exactly one year after his enlistment in February 1944.

Prominent in Mill Valley, where he had made his home for 12 years, "BILL" was winner of the junior players cup in the Mill Valley Golf Tournament and later became a member of the Men's Golf Club.

Funeral services will be at the Robert Russell Chapel, however arrangements are being held, pending arrival of the young man's body and escort from Washington.
