BLANCHE M. CEVENE

Notato – A memorial service will be held for Blanche M. Cevene, a wire walker and dancer of Novato, at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel in Oakland.

Mrs. Cevene died Sunday in a local hospital after an illness. She was 84.

A native of San Francisco, she grew up there and then traveled all over the world with her husband, the late Fred W. Cevene, while they pursued their show business career as The Cevenes.

During their careers, they played at the Palladium in London and the Palace in New York. They also toured Spain, Australia, and Great Britain.

They ended their show business career in 1944 and lived in San Francisco and Burlingame. Mrs. Cevene moved to the Tamalpais Retirement Home in Novato in 1979, a year after her husband died.

Survivors include a daughter, Delphine Tague of Rohnert Park; a sister, Delphin Ladarre of Oakland; and one grandchild.

Inurnment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Women’s Auxiliary of the French Hospital in San Francisco.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the mother-in-law of John V. Tague; grandmother of William F. Longman; aunt of Gene Ladarre and cousin of Gabrielle Chanquet.
