CHRISTIAN CHRISTENSEN
Christian J. Christensen, former longtime San Rafael resident, died Friday in a Cupertino convalescent hospital, where he had been a patient for about a year.
Christensen, 77, lived in San Rafael on Jewel Street for about 50 years. He operated a lumber mill in San Rafael which burned in 1941 and after that, continued in the lumber business operating a mill in Mendocino County.
He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, and came to this country as a small child. The family first lived in Napa.
About 10 years ago, Christensen moved to Trinity County and about five years ago to Belmont.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Marin.
His wife, Mary Aileen Christensen, died 18 years ago, and a daughter, Christine Kennedy, also died earlier.
Surviving are his daughter, Jeannette Bruffy of Menlo Park, two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Mission San Rafael Arcangel in San Rafael. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper names his granddaughters, Ruth Ann Rhoades and Cathy Diane Kirkpatrick.
