Obituaries
Mrs. ANNIE WATSON, 59, Succumbs
Mrs. ANNIE BETH WATSON of 27 Cypress Ave., San Anselmo, a retired speech teacher with the Tamalpais Union High School District, died yesterday in a San Francisco Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 59.
A teacher since 1927, Mrs. Watson became ill and was forced to retire two years ago. She taught speech at Tamalpais High School from 1945 to 1952 when Sir Francis Drake High School opened. There she taught until June 1963.
Born in Waco, TX, Mrs. Watson taught there 7 years before moving to Marin County. She was a graduate of Baylor University of Texas.
In 1941, she moved to Marin. Her two brothers, both physicians – Dr. A.B. Goddard of Mill Valley and Dr. Wilson Goddard of Bolinas – were already living in the area.
She taught 3 years in the Park Elementary School in Mill Valley before moving to Tamalpais High School.
Surviving are her husband, Lon C. Watson of San Anselmo; her son, Sam Wakefield Morris of Johnston Island, south of Honolulu; her daughter, Mrs. Martha McIntyre of Mill Valley; her mother, William Muriel Goddard of Waco, TX; her brothers, and a granddaughter, Ann Day McIntyre.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. Inurnment will be private. Donations to the Cancer Society or the Sir Francis Drake High School Scholarship Fund are preferred.
