W. H. MIDDLETON
William H. Middleton, 82, one of San Francisco’s first automobile dealers and brother of George Middleton of San Rafael, died yesterday in a San Francisco hospital.
He had been hospitalized May 22 after a fall at his home in San Francisco.
Middleton was born in San Francisco, of a family instrumental in founding the communities of Guerneville and Healdsburg, among others. His father acquired extensive timber holdings on Boulder Creek now known as the Middleton Tract.
He sold the first car sold in San Francisco, a Columbia, shortly before the 1906 earthquake.
Surviving, besides his brother, is a daughter, Edith Jean of San Francisco.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Halsted and Co., San Francisco. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma.
