NICHOLAS J. DAMATO

Nicholas J. Damato, longtime Fairfax resident who moved to Marysville a few months ago, died unexpectedly there Saturday. He was 66.

Damato was born and reared in San Francisco. He moved to Fairfax in 1941. He had worked as a commercial fisherman and later as a truck driver, retiring recently after 20 yeas with Matson Truck Lines.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Damato of Marysville; three sons, Fred Damato of Marysville and Tony and Andy Damato of Fairfax; two brothers, Anthony and Peter, and one sister, Madeline, all of San Francisco, and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday at St. Rita’s Church in Fairfax. Entombment will be in Italian Cemetery in Colma.

The rosary will be recited at 7 o’clock tonight at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.

The family prefers memorial contribution to the American Heart Fund.
