Dante R. Muscio, resident of Point Reyes Station for a long term of years, died Sunday morning at the Ross General Hospital, where he had been under treatment for the past month. A recurrence of a malady which seized him first five years ago was the cause of death.
His death saddened the entire community, in which he was a prominent resident. A leader in civic and political affairs, his influence extended all over the coast section of the county. His friends were legion.
He was a partner in the Grandi & Co. store and was agent at Point Reyes Station for Lewis, Simas & Jones, grain and feed dealers.
He was for more than 20 years a member of the Republican state central committee, but had retired five years ago on account of bad health. He was active in the Republican presidential campaign last year, and was also active in the recent Musical Chest campaign and it was due to his aid that the drive there was so successful.
His hobby was flowers and his gardens of begonias, asters, dahlias, camillas and other blooms attracted many visitors.
Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gilda Muscio, and three children – Mrs. Ethel Molseed, Dante F. Muscio and Marion Muscio. He was a member of Marin Lodge No. 191, F. & A. M.; Islam Temple of the Mystic Shrine of San Francisco and Petaluma Lodge No. 901, B. P. O. Elks.
Funeral services Wednesday morning at the mortuary of Keaton & Dusel, were held under Masonic auspices, with the Rev. John J. Canoles, chaplain of Marin Lodge, offering the prayer. Interment took place in the cemetery at Olema.
