Masonic funeral for Thomas James Turner, 71, of Mill Valley, longtime shop superintendent for Northwestern Pacific Railroad, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael, conducted by Mill Valley Lodge 256, F. and A.M.
Turner died Saturday in a San Francisco hospital after long illness.
He spent a half century in railroad work before his retirement, and for many years was NWP shop superintendent in Tiburon. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainsmen and of Mill Valley Lodge 256, F. and A.M.
Turner was born in Georgia, came to California 48 years ago, and to Marin County in 1923.
His home was at 239 Sycamore Avenue, Mill Valley.
He leaves his wife, Tempie E. Turner; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Guyman of 637 Galerita Way, Santa Venetia, with whom Mrs. Turner will reside; a brother, Walter M. Turner of Clear Lake Oaks, Lake County, and one grandchild.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 6 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. The family prefers that tributes be memorial contributions to Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children.
