EDITH FORAN
As she wished, no public service will be held for Edith Foran of San Rafael, longtime leader in Marin senior citizen activities. Mrs. Foran died Saturday in a local hospital at the age of 93.
Both she and her twin sister, Ethel Bryce, who survives her, served as president of the Marin Senior Association in the 1950s and ‘60s. Mrs. Foran was the first hostess of the original senior citizen center in San Rafael.
She was born in Manistee, Mich., in 1887, earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan and did graduate work at what was then Michigan State Normal College. She became a high school teacher. In 1918 she married Bryce J. Foran, an attorney, in Louisville, Ky. Following his death in 1942, she became a librarian for Washington State University in Pullman, moving to San Rafael after her retirement in the 1950s.
She was a member of the Goldenaires, the American Association of University Women and the San Rafael Improvement Club. She made her home in recent years with her sisters, who is her only survivor.
