ROSE B. SOUZA
Rose B. Souza of Novato, longtime Marin resident, died Saturday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 82.
Mrs. Souza was born and reared in the Azore Islands, coming to this country when she was about 25. She lived most of her life in Marin, the last 40 years in Novato.
She was a member of the Portuguese lodge, SPRSI, in Novato.
Her husband, Manuel D. Souza, died in 1942.
Surviving are one daughter, Mabel Brazil of Novato; one son, Manuel D. Souza of Petaluma; two (sic) sisters, Mary Souza of Muir Beach and Luzia Soares and Barbara Santos, both of the Azores; two brothers, Emil Dias of Merced and Alvin Dias of the Azores, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Novato. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
