ROBERT PHILIP DANIELSON
A Resident of Kentfield
Age 80, died January 27, 2001 at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae. He was born on January 1, 1921 in Evanston, Illinois to Dorothy and Philip A. Danielson. He was educated in the Evanston public schools, Evanston Township High School and Harvard University, Class of 1943. His passion for rowing on the college crew team continued with the Marin Rowing club. During WWII, he served as Engineering Officer in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to Aircraft Carriers in the Pacific Theater where he participated in battles in Guam, Saipan, New Guinea and the Philippines. At the Battle for Leyte Gulf, he survived the sinking of the USS St. Lo.
In 1948, he received a MA in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley and became a licensed Architect, specializing in commercial and industrial architecture and land planning. He was employed by several Bay Area architectural firms and was a consultant on industrial land use for Bart, California Water Board and State Senate committee on Tidelands. He was a director of the Kent companies, Kent Woodlands and Seadrift.
Together with his wife, Nancy, he has been active in St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross, Beyond War, People of Faith Against the Death Penalty, the United Nations Assn and the Democratic Party.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Kent Danielson; two daughters, Anne D. Conrad of Petaluma and Kit D. Crane of Marinwood; and five grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross.
