ELAINE L. HAMLIN
Funeral for Elaine L. Hamlin, mother of Leslie Schumacher of Novato, was held today in Palo Alto.
Mrs. Hamlin died Saturday in a Palo Alto hospital after a long illness. She was 57.
She was reared in Santa Rosa and was graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in economics. She later received her teaching credential from San Francisco State University.
She then taught grade school for a year in a one-room Santa Rosa schoolhouse, before marrying Ross Hamlin in 1942. The couple later moved to Palo Alto, where they had lived 15 years.
While there Mrs. Hamlin was a member of the Woodside Atherton Auxiliary Stanford Convalescent Home and the Menlo Park Country Club.
Also surviving is a daughter, Stephanie Patterson of San Marino, Los Angeles County, and a grandchild.
