Fairfax Man Fatally Injured in Accident
CHARLES RONAN, well known Fairfax man, was almost instantly killed in an automobile accident on Red Hill Avenue last Saturday evening.
The cause of the accident has not as yet been determined, and there is a possibility that it may have been caused by a mechanical defect in the steering wheel of the car, in which he was riding.
Earlier in the evening, RONAN had driven to the Ross General Hospital with a relative to visit his wife, Mrs. Tressa RONAN, and their 4 day old baby. On the return trip, something went wrong with the car in which he was riding and he started to walk to Fairfax.
Leonard Hicks of Fairfax was driving along Red Hill Avenue and stopped and picked him up. Shortly after this came a terrific impact with a Buick car, said to be driven by W.B. Saywell of Baltimore Park.
RONAN was thrown from the machine sustaining a fractured skull, and internal injuries, which proved fatal. Hicks was detained by traffic officers, pending investigation.
Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Anselm's Church in Ross, where mass was said. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Mateo County under the direction of Keaton and Dusel. RONAN is survived by his widow, the infant boy, his 3 year old daughter, Dolores, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Ronan of San Francisco.
The deceased was an organist at the St. Rita's Church in Fairfax and also, of St. Anselm's Church in San Anselmo. He had been a resident of Fairfax for several years was very popular and well liked in the community.
