CHARLOTTE POKORNY

Charlotte Pokorny of San Anselmo died Thursday at Ross General Hospital. Funeral arrangements were pending at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.

CHARLOTTE POKORNY

Charlotte J. Pokorny, mother of Charlotte Andrews of San Anselmo, died Friday at a local hospital following an unexpected illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Pokorny was a native of Mazatlan, Mexico, where she was raised and educated until the start of the Mexican Revolution in 1910.

She, her mother and three sisters, fled to this country after her father, a sheriff, was assassinated at the outbreak of hostilities. She was 16 at the time.

She later married the late Edward G. Pokorny, who died in 1943. She lived in San Francisco before moving to Marin 23 years ago.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Maria P. Jones of San Anselmo and Margaret Chiladoux of Fresno, and four grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Anselm’s Church, where she participated in Great Guys and Gals, a senior citizens group.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at San Anselm’s Catholic Church in San Anselmo.

The rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.

Jones and Margaret Chiladoux and the late Clotilde Nixon; grandmother of Craig Keith, Kirk Andrews and Cheryl Eberhard. A native of Mexico, aged 85 years.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday, Feb. 18, 1980, at 9:30 a.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Thence to St. Anselm’s Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be said for the repose of her soul at 10 a.m. Interment, Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, Calif., Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1980. Rosary services will be recited at 8 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael, Sunday, Feb. 17, 1980.
