JANINA SWIFT
San Rafael resident

Janina Swift fought for freedom in the Polish underground during World War II, became a jewelry designer later in life, and recently recorded an oral history for the Holocaust Project.

Mrs. Swift, a San Rafael resident, died on July 1 in San Rafael. She was 75.

She served in an Allied military mission in Denmark, and lived in London, where she attended Davis College.

In 1951, she came to America to raise her family.

She was a ships store accountant for U.S. Navy installations.

She attended the College of Marin, where she studied jewelry design and fabrication. Her memberships included the Metal Arts Guild.

Mrs. Swift is survived by two daughters, Krysia Swift of the Bay Area and Joasia Carson of Mill Valley; a son, Mark Swift of San Rafael; and a brother, A. K. Oppenheim of Kensington.

At her request, th ere will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Share Program at Marin Humane Society or the Marin Center For Independent Living.
