DOROTHY HEFFINGTON
Dorothy Jewel Elizabeth Heffington, a 15-year resident of Novato, died Thursday in a San Francisco hospital after a long illness. She was 58.
She was a retired administrative secretary having worked for the civil service at Hamilton Air Force Base until she retired in 1976.
She was a contributor to the Marin Poet’s Corner in the Independent Journal.
A native of Victoria, in British Columbia, she came to the United States in 1946 and settled in Los Angeles where she met and married her husband, Robert A. Heffington, a sergeant in the Army.
They were stationed in Chicago, Washington D.C. and Japan. They moved to Novato when he was assigned to the San Francisco Presidio in 1965.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Stephen Heffington of San Francisco, Douglas Heffington in the Navy, and Peter Heffington of Novato; and a daughter, Pamela Heffington of San Rafael.
A memorial service will be held at the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday. Inurnment will be at Saint Luke’s Church Cemetery in Victoria.
