HELEN MARIE TONIS
A private service has been held for Helen Marie Tonis of Fairfax, a women’s counselor.
Mrs. Tonis, 31, died at home Wednesday after a long illness.
She was a counselor for Woman’s Way in San Rafael.
She was born in Washington state and grew up in various places because her father was in the service. She graduated from Redwood High School with honors and also earned a bachelor’s degree with honors at University of California, San Diego. She had a master’s degree in English literature from San Francisco State University.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Tonis of Fairfax; her mother, Janet Requarth of San Francisco; her father, Jack Requarth of Arizona; and two sisters, Shirley Baglietto of Hawaii and Diana West of Santa Rosa.
Inurnment was in Bahia Valley Memorial Park, Novato.
