GARNISS H. CURTIS
A funeral has been held for Garniss H. Curtis of Kentfield, an 80-year resident of Marin.
Mrs. Curtis, 89, died Wednesday at a local convalescent [hospital] after a long illness.
She is a native of San Francisco. Her family moved to Marin at the turn of the century. Her father, David Hearfield, was a businessman whose San Joaquin Valley quarry produced marble for San Francisco buildings.
Her first marriage, to Chester Kent, ended in divorce. Her second husband, Allen Ralston Curtis, died in 1956.
She was a housewife and an avid gardener.
She is survived by two sons, Ralston Curtis of Ross and Garniss H. Curtis of Orinda; a daughter, Jane Van Norden Curtis of Ross; and a brother, David Hearfield II of San Francisco.
Burial was in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
