THOMAS G. DUFFY
A Masonic memorial service has been held in Cuernavaca, Mexico, for Thomas G. Duffy, longtime San Rafael businessman and property owner.
Duffy, 81, died there Jan. 23.
He had been dividing his time between his home in San Rafael and Cuernavaca during the past few years.
He was born in Augusta, Mont., and came to Marin County in the early 1930s. He owned several businesses, including the Tom Duffy Co., a building supply firm, and also a number of local properties.
A street in San Rafael, Duffy Place, is named for him.
He was a member of the San Rafael Elks Club, the Meadow Club, and the Marin Shrine Club and was a life member of the University of California Alumni Association.
After going to Mexico he served as “ambassador at large” to the Shrine Temple in Cuernavaca, where his memorial service was held.
Surviving are his wife, Cecile R. Duffy; one daughter, Peggy Kramer of Palo Alto; one step-son, Donald Duffy of San Francisco; and one grandson.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children in San Francisco.
