ROSE DeBORBA
Rose DeBorba, a Novato resident since 1907, died Monday in a local hospital after a short illness. She was 95.
A native of San Rafael, she was raised in Watsonville and returned to live in Novato with her late husband, Joseph DeBorba, who ran a grocery store and meat market for several years before becoming a guard at San Quentin Prison.
She was a housewife, who earned a reputation as a gardener for her work around her home at the corner of Diablo Avenue and Novato Boulevard.
She was a member of the Acacia Club, the Novato Senior Citizens, S.P.R.S.I. of Novato, and Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato.
She is survived by her brother, Antone Fagundes of Watsonville, and her sister, Clara Masquite of Hollister.
Her son, Edward DeBorba, preceded her in death.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
