ANNE H. LAMBUTH

A Holy Eucharist service for Anne Hanks Lambuth, 86, of Novato will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Nativity in Marinwood.

She died Saturday at her home.

A native of Cardiff, Wales, she had lived in Novato with her daughter, Bette Hanks.

Mrs. Lambuth was a retired historical and law librarian. She was a Latin scholar and had researched medieval manuscripts at a library in York Minster, England. She later worked as a librarian at Chester Law Library, Chester, England.

She was educated in England, where she settled with her late first husband, Leonard Hanks, an opera singer.

During World War II, she helped find shelter and clothing for people who had been bombed out.

She moved to Santa Barbara in 1949.

She lived there until moving to Marin County to live with her daughter about seven years ago. She had lived in Tiburon and Lucas Valley before moving to Novato.

Mrs. Lambuth was a member of the Novato Senior Citizens, past president of the Canadian Legion Auxiliary, English-Speaking Union and Choral Society, all in Santa Barbara, and the British American Club in San Francisco. She also was active in the Episcopal women’s auxiliary.

She has no survivors in her immediate family except for her daughter.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael or the Royal National Lifeboat Institute in London.
