WILLIAM W. HOXIE

A memorial service will be held for William W. Hoxie at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Ross at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Hoxie died in his Ross residence last Thursday after a sudden illness. He was 62.

A native of San Francisco, he lived there life (sic) until moving to Marin County 33 years ago.

Hoxie was a men’s clothing salesman for the Flying Scottsman in Ross. Prior to working there, he worked as a salesman for Young Man’s Fancy and Bullock and Jones in San Francisco.

He was a member of the guardsmen in San Francisco.

Hoxie graduated from the San Rafael Military Academy, known now as the Marin Academy, and Pomona College.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Hoxie of Ross; three sons, William Wieboldt Hoxie of Ross, Stephen Wilcox Hoxie of Stinson Beach, and Christopher Frederick Hoxie of Mill Valley; two daughters, Heidi Hoxie of Ross, and Helen Vivian Hoxie of Stinson Beach; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Metzgar of San Francisco, Mrs. Vivien Johnson and Mrs. Mary Jane Gallivan, both of Sacramento, and Mrs. Arrian Holt of Florida.

The family prefers that any memorial gifts be given to World College West or to the donor’s favorite charity.
