FRED C. MAURONI
Fred C. Mauroni of Calaveras County, a former Woodacre resident, died in a plane crash Thursday night while returning from a business trip to Marin County.
Mauroni, 63, had moved to Valley Springs in Calaveras County in 1978.
At his request, no services will be held.
A native of Kansas, Mauroni came to Marin in 1943. He was a foreman at the Marinship ship yard during World War II and later owned a shoe store on Mill Avenue in Mill Valley.
Mauroni became a building contractor and operated his own business first in Marin and then Valley Springs where the crash occurred.
He is survived by his wife Angelina; two sons, Fred Mauroni Jr. of Pinole and Arnold Mauroni of Eureka; one daughter, Gloria O’Neil of Portland; two brothers, James Mauroni of San Rafael and Merl Mauroni of San Francisco; and one sister, Lucille Ludwa of Wichita, Kan.
