Violet L. Meesters
Lifelong Marin resident
Violet L. Meesters, a retired sales clerk at Macy's died Saturday, Nov. 17, 1990, at Marin General Hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Meesters was a native and lifelong resident of San Rafael.
As a young woman, Mrs. Meesters was crowned as a member of the "court" that attended a queen chosen for ceremonies opening the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937. She was among the first people to cross the bridge in a car.
Mrs. Meesters worked for many years as a retail sales clerk, joining Macy's after working at Montgomery Ward and Halpert's department stores. She worked for Macy's about 30 years.
She loved working in her garden.
She is survived by her son, David Athey of San Rafael.
Private services were held.
