MAUDE POHLI
As she wished, no funeral will be held for Maude Pohli, a longtime Mill Valley resident prominent in Marin’s civic and club circles.
Mrs. Pohli died Wednesday in Oak Knoll Hospital after a brief illness. She was 82.
She was born in Wisconsin but moved with her family to Tustin, Orange County, as a child. In 1925, she and the late Emil Pohli were married. Pohli was active in Marin insurance and real estate. His family had purchased property and built a home in Mill Valley in 1896.
Mrs. Pohli was a past president of the Mill Valley Outdoor Arts Club, a member of the Northgate Group of the Marin Art and Garden Center, a volunteer at Sunnyhills, a member of the Rector’s Guild at the Church of Our Saviour, and a longtime Red Cross volunteer.
She is survived by two sons, Navy Capt. Richard Pohli, who is commanding officer of Treasure Island, and Emil Pohli Jr., of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Roy Blackshear of Hilo, Hawaii; a brother, Ralph Eels of Santa Ana, and four grandchildren.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Navy-Marine Corps Museum Association of Treasure Island for the Save the Fountain Fund.
