FRED W. MANDEL
A private family service for Fred W. Mandel of San Anselmo was held today at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Mandel died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 89.

MANDEL – In San Anselmo, March 25, 1980, Fred W. Mandel, father of William Mandel of San Anselmo, grandfather of Kenneth Mandel of Moraga and Pamela Mize of Novato, great-grandfather of Richard Mize. A native of Austria, aged 89 years. A member of Whistlestop and Marin Goldenaires.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, 1980, at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael, Calif. Inurnment Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.

Another obituary was published in the March 27 paper. It adds that Mr. Mandel practiced dentistry while in Austria. After moving to the United States in 1938, he came to the Bay Area in the early 1940s. He operated a dental laboratory in San Francisco before retiring, and moved to Marin County more that ten years before his death.
