Father JAMES J. HEALY
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Father James J. Healy, former pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Larkspur, will be offered at the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The service will be conducted by Archbishop Joseph R. McGucken of San Francisco.
Father Healy died yeterday at a local retirement home after a long illness. He was 70.
A native of Oakland, he attended St. Anthony’s School there and went on to study at St. Joseph’s College in Mountain View, the University of San Francisco and St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park. He was ordained by Archbishop John J. Mitty in 1935 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco.
Father Healy served at churches in Sausalito, Oakland, San Jose, Mountain View and St. Helena. He was appointed pastor of St. Patrick’s in 1959. During his pastorate, the school convent and parish center were built. He retired in 1973.
He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Weadock of Burlingame, and Alice J. Healy of Oakland; a brother, Joseph B. Healy; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A Mass for the children of the parish and friends will be offered tomorrow at 2 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. Spiritual bouquets are preferred.
