ROBERT F. ROSE
A memorial service for Robert F. Rose, who was born and raised in San Rafael, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
Rose, 61, died unexpectedly March 21 in Southern California of a stroke.
He had spent his adult life in the aerospace field and was director of special products for the jet propulsion lab at California Institute of Technology.
Rose was the son of the late Joe and Rose Freitas Rose.
He attended St. Raphael’s School in San Rafael and St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
His career included work on the development of the H-bomb and on the development of solid fuel for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration moonshot.
Rose is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Rose, of his home in Pasadena; three daughters, Mary Kay Odom of Pensacola, Fla., Chris Lewis of Moss Beach, and Laura Rose of Pasadena; one son, Timothy Rose of Pasadena, and one sister, Jeannie Forde of San Rafael.
Inurnment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
