RUSSELL G. MAHLMANN

Russell G. Mahlmann of San Rafael, a Marin resident for five years and a third generation San Franciscan, died Wednesday at a local hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 75.

Mahlmann was born and raised in San Francisco. His grandmother was born in a wagon train in Placerville on her way to San Francisco with a settlers’ party led by General Fremont.

Mahlmann was a stock and bond broker with the E. F. Hutton brokerage office in San Francisco. He retired several years ago.

He moved to Marin about 1974.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mahlmann; a daughter, Beverly Umphries of San Rafael; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Monte’s Mission Chapel mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.

The family prefers memorial gifts to the Little Jill Fund, care of Children’s Hospital, 3700 California St., San Francisco.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the father-in-law of Thomas Umphries, and grandfather of Denny, Steven, Tommy Umphries and Mrs. Cindy Miller.
