JANET M. BLETHEN

A Mass of Christian Burial for Janet Millerick Blethen, former manager of the Tiburon Peninsula Club, will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Bodega.

Mrs. Blethen died at home Tuesday after a brief illness. She was 68.

Mrs. Blethen was born and reared in San Francisco, graduating from Sacred Heart Convent and San Francisco College for Women. She then became a social service worker for the state and for Catholic charities.

From 1954 to 1964, she managed the Colonial Hotel in San Francisco, which belonged to the family of her late husband, Howard.

She then served five years as manager of the Tiburon Peninsula club and then became manager of the Sacred Heart convent and school.

In recent years, she lived in Bodega Bay and was a saleswoman for the Kay Noah real estate firm.

She was a member of the St. Teresa’s Ladies’ Guild, a former member of the Ross Valley Players and the Audubon Society, and was a golfer, swimmer and bridge enthusiast.

She is survived by two sons, Howard R. Blethen of Windsor, Sonoma County, and William Blethen of Bodega Bay; two daughters, Mary Jill Clemens of San Rafael and Donna Blethen of San Francisco; a sister, Bernidet Keil of Tiburon, and five grandchildren.

The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the O’Leary Funeral Home Chapel in Sebastopol. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
