TIMOTHY W. O’DONOGHUE

Timothy W. O’Donoghue, 74, of Ross, a retired Railway Express employee, died Friday last night at a local hospital after an illness.

O’Donoghue retired in 1970 after 42 years with Railway Express Co. where he started with a job driving a horse-drawn wagon.

After his retirement, he represented the Teamsters Union in labor relations. O’Donoghue was a native of San Francisco who had been a resident of Marin since 1931.

He was a past chairman of the Marin Community Chest, a past president of the Catholic Youth Organization in Marin and an organizer of the Fairfax Little League. O’Donoghue also was a volunteer at the St. Anselm’s Rummage Rack in San Anselmo.

Surviving are a daughter, Erin Thompson of Ross; a son, Timothy W. O’Donoghue Jr. of Greenbrae; a sister, Margaret Cleek of San Francisco; and 13 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Helpers of the Mentally Retarded, 2626 Fulton St., San Francisco.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the husband of the late Alice O’Donoghue, and that he was the brother of the late Bartholomew and Aileen and Mary O’Donoghue; also the grandfather of Stephanie, Steve, Tim, Dennis, Peter and Paul Thompson, Sally Merz and Beth Sasan, Timothy III, Erin, John, Patrick and Thomas O’Donoghue.
