A Sudden Call
Miss Emma Green Passed Away Saturday
The sudden death of Miss EMMA GREEN last Saturday evening was a surprise and shock to our citizens. She took the train leaving the broad gauge depot at 6:35 for San Francisco where she expected to visit her invalid mother and spend Sunday with her, but she expired on the boat while crossing the bay. The cause of death is supposed to be heart disease. She has been in poor health for several months past, but was not supposed to be seriously ill.
Miss Green was assisted into the boat by Mr. Saunders, and a few minutes later fainted away, and before reaching San Francisco, life was extinct. She was identified by Emmet Hayden, and then her relations in San Rafael were notified.
Miss Green had been the faithful employee of the post office for 7 or 8 years and was universally respected. She was a sister of Mrs. W.J. Miller, of San Rafael, and leaves a mother, brother and sister in San Francisco.
The funeral services were held Tuesday and were attended by a large number of her San Rafael friends. The interment was at Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland.
