Dr. James S. McCue Died Tuesday

James S. McCue, one of the oldest pioneers of California, died at his home in Corte Madera on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 81 years. It is believed that his death was hastened by an accident which occurred about 2 weeks ago when he was thrown from his buggy. McCue was born in Stark County, Ohio, and came to this State when a very young man. He engaged in mining and later became proprietor of some stage lines.

For a umber of years he conducted a circus in which he exhibited trick horses that he had trained. When the Klondike excitement started, although then very old, he started out with an outfit and braved the frozen North for a few years. It is said that he made considerable money from his holding there. At times, he mixed in politics and on a few occasions ran for the Assembly on the Populist and Socialist tickets.

It was during litigation with McCue that Millionaire W. B. Bradbury committed the perjury for which he is now serving a year in San Quentin. He is a well known character and is widely known.

McCue was married 3 times and besides a widow, he is survived by 2 children of the second marriage, Rolston and Etta McCue. The remains were taken to San Francisco to be cremated.
