Mrs. M. V. Ammerman Is Called by Death
Margaret V. Ammerman, aged 88 years, of Sausalito, believed to be the last widow of a Civil War veteran in this county, passed away this (Thursday) morning at her Sausalito home, where she has resided for the past twenty years.
Mrs. Ammerman came from Kentucky, where at one time the family owned 16 negro slaves, and she delighted to tell stories of the south to friends.
Her husband, Edwin Ammerman, died three years ago. He was a railroad man, and during the Civil War was enlisted in the 21st Missouri Infantry.
Earl Ammerman, deputy sheriff, is a son, and a brother, Clayton, resides in Los Angeles.
The funeral will be held from the Keaton and Dusel mortuary Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment, Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.
